This February 15, Stephen Brooks, a global consultant who specializes in helping retail pop-up entrepreneurs achieve success, will lead a fact-filled seminar, “7 Secrets to Success in Pop-Up Retailing,” at Concordia University in Chicago, Illinois.
While high-profile retail closings are making the news, pop-up retail – an innovative concept in which retailers occupy temporary spaces to test a market or offer a specialized product line – are growing at a record pace. Pop-up retailing was recently noted by CBRE as one of the major trends driving retail sales growth, in a report noting that retailers and their landlords both have an increased appetite for short-term pop-up stores. “In addition to shifting retail trends, consumers themselves are driving demand for pop-ups,” said Brooks. “Simply put, consumers have grown bored with look-alike malls and superstores, and the small format and personalized experience of the pop-up shop brings a little excitement back to the shopping experience.”
Brooks recently appeared on the TDAmeritrade Network “Morning Trade Live” show, where he discussed pop-up trends with host Oliver Renick, why they have become so popular, and how both start-up and established retailers can take full advantage of this trend. Brooks is widely recognized as the leading expert on pop-up retail, and has spoken at conferences and seminars throughout Europe and the United States.
